Tartu Observatory (Estonia) announces

the post doctoral position in the field of space technology

in the frames of Tartu Observatory Development Programme ASTRA/KOMEET.

  • Application deadline is 30th January 2017. 
  • For the application please send CV with list of publications and most important projects, research referees as well as motivation letter to email info@to.ee.
  • Interviews with selected applicants will be made during period 1st to 14th of  February 2017.
  • Successful applicants can start working as soon as possible after the decision is made, or on 1st April 2017 at latest as full time researcher in Tartu Observatory, Department of Space Technology for two years. Depending from success in application for additional funding, the contract will be prolonged. 
Requirements for position
  • Experience and track record with three or more of the following R&D fields
  • Nanosatellite development, especially system level
  • Optical and/or RF instrument development
  • Electric solar wind sail, space tethers or propellantless propulsion
  • Plasma brake, space debris or deorbiting
  • Interplanetary exploration (asteroids, comets, moons, planets)
  • Earth observation
  • Satellite constellations and/or fleets
  • Hands-on education

  • Experience with at least one of the following funding programmes
  • European Commission Framework Programme, especially H2020
  • European Space Agency procurements
  • Interreg or other international network programmes

  • Motivation and skills to lead a team and supervise students
  • Willingness to apply for additional funding
  • Wilingness to teach Space Technology courses
